It has always been difficult to start a section named "About me". But, this is an informal blog, so the conversation can be informal, too.
My name is Irena Stojkovska and I love mathematics. I want everybody to love her. Maybe, this is the reason, that I enjoy what I do for living - teaching mathematics. I work as a university professor at the Institute of Mathematics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Macedonia. This blog does not reflect an official position of the Institute, or the Faculty, or the University, I work at.

At first, I started this blog as Irena's Math Blog, which I mean it to be (as it's address shows), but I gave it the name - Beautiful Math.
Mathematics is ... simply beautiful. The beauty is an emotion and a cognition at the same time. And mathematics deserves to be loved and recognized.
Having mathematics in my heart and in my mind, I realized that I have a need to write about it, but in a different way, not like writing a paper or writing a class materials. Not too formal, but still mathematical, a little bit recreational, and I hope in a some way educational.
What can you find on this blog? My initial intention is to create a place where I can share my thoughts and experiences related to the mathematics. Maybe you will find this place worth for your attention and time.
Why in English? My native language is Macedonian, and the common fact is that English is more global. Sometimes it is difficult to express myself completely and authentically in English, but mathematics always knows how to help me. One more reason to love HER.
And I apologize about the mistakes in my English. I am trying to do all my best.
Why this picture of a daisy for a profile picture? Every time I look at it, I admire to its pureness, brightness, I admire the look at the sky,... I admire the perspective. When I saw the Roger Antonsen's TEDxOslo talk, I finally managed to link this picture to mathematics. Mathematics is all about perspective and ability to change it. Ability to look at familiar staff in a different way. So, maybe this is the reason why this picture resembles the beauty of mathematics. Thank you Aaron Burden for sharing this picture of beautiful daisy.
